Northeastern States Legalizing Online Lottery
Several Northeastern states are working to legalize online lotteries. The state of New Hampshire was the first to legalize an online lottery last summer. New Hampshire is also home to e-Instant games, which allow players to play the lotto on their tablet, smartphone, or desktop. Other states, such as Massachusetts and Rhode Island, are in the process of establishing laws that will allow players to participate in online lotteries.
Most states have online lottery websites, which serve as a hub for players to learn about winning numbers and find out about locations and contact information. A few of these lotteries have expanded their service offerings by adding Instant Games, which are casino-style games available on mobile apps and the web. Although many online lotteries are government-run, some are privately-owned, offering a broader selection of games. If you don’t have a computer, an app might be the best option.
While online lottery sales are still in their early days, more states are considering expanding the lottery to the internet. While a lot of states have not yet approved this type of online sales, others are looking at it as a way to increase revenue for the state. Despite the negatives, online sales are still proving to be a good option for both players and the state. But one thing is certain: anti-gambling groups will continue to oppose the expansion of online lottery sites.
